The slab foundations are distinguished by a monolithic structure and are performed in the form of a continuous or lattice slab from reinforced concrete, the place of placement of which is the entire area of the building.
The foundations of this type are able to withstand any soil movements, which provides them with a rigid structure. In the case of the soil movement, the plate also begins to move, which prevents the destruction of the construction of the building where the channel fan can be installed. Naturally, its fall will lead to poor consequences. Among the advantages of these foundations include resistance to loads of different nature. In this case, we are talking about such unpleasant phenomena as freezing, thawing and subsidence of soil. In most cases, areas with problematic soils are chosen for their construction. Sites whose soil is waterlogged, providing for a close arrangement of groundwater, are the most suitable place for these foundations.
The slab foundations were widespread in low -rise construction. In this case, we are talking about the construction of objects characterized by a small and simple form.
The process of erecting a slab foundation itself begins with digging a foundation pit, which is subsequently compacted, after which a sand-gravel pillow should be arranged at the bottom. Next, proceed to the placement of waterproofing material and pouring concrete with a thin layer. After that, it is time to place the reinforcement and fill the pit with a solution based on concrete.
The plate, which was built in this way, acts as a place for the construction of a tape monolithic foundation, which will take the load provided by the load -bearing walls of the building. Subsequently, the foundation plate can be converted into the floor of the basement.
The construction of slab foundations requires large costs, which is associated with the high cost of excavation, concrete and metal reinforcement. But, despite this, this decision may be advisable provided that with the help of all other foundations it is impossible to guarantee that the object under construction will demonstrate the required stability.
