What type of plaster to choose for facade finishing

by marusia

Mineral plaster is the least expensive. Bulk mixtures are suitable if you need a light facade. The plaster base is white-gray, and dark shades of facade paint do not easily adhere to it.

Dark paint on a mineral coating must be done in several layers. If the project requires painting in two layers, then, for example, a dark graphite facade will require four.

All polymer plasters are ready-made mixtures in plastic buckets. They cannot be diluted with water. Upon request, they are tinted at the factory to the desired RAL shade. Additional painting is not required.

Polymer facade plasters can compensate for microdamage due to their elasticity, but they are not impact-resistant, they do not stretch to compensate for larger cracks.

Polymer plasters are not used in schools, kindergartens, since their flammability class is G1. Mineral plasters have a NG class. The use of this type of plaster is not regulated for private houses.

Mineral and silicone plasters have approximately the same vapor permeability. Therefore, silicone mixtures can be used for the entire facade as a whole.

For the base, you can use mosaic decorative plaster with increased anti-vandal strength characteristics: a layer of at least 3 mm of marble chips, resistance to aggressive environments.
